Spine MRI can be overwhelming when you're jumping between textbooks and real-world workstation reads. You read the theory, but distinguishing subtle cord signal abnormalities from artefacts at 2 AM is a different story.

This course covers the essentials of spine MRI efficiently. We bypass the endless, uncurated case banks and instead give you a curated list of over 22 scrollable DICOM cases designed to teach you exactly what you need to know. You'll build the pattern recognition to confidently evaluate everything from bread-and-butter degenerative disc disease to complex intradural masses and cord infarcts.

You start. You finish. You walk onto your next shift knowing exactly what to look for.

Who This Course Is For

Mid-to-late residents and neuro or MSK fellows. Particularly useful for anyone who confuses cord signal abnormalities with artefacts, struggles to categorise intradural masses, or wants a systematic approach to the degenerative spine before tackling more complex pathology.

Pathologies include:

Get a taste for some of the pathologies covered in this course.

Disc & Degenerative Disease

  • Including disc extrusion with nerve root compression, Modic changes, and facet joint cysts

Spinal Cord Pathologies

  • Including cord compression, transverse myelitis, and spinal cord infarction

Intradural Tumours

  • Including meningioma, schwannoma, and myxopapillary ependymoma

Infection & Inflammation

  • Including spondylodiscitis, epidural abscess, and ankylosing spondylitis

What You'll Learn

  1. 1Accurately differentiate between intradural extramedullary, intramedullary, and extradural spinal masses.
  2. 2Develop a reliable search pattern for identifying subtle cord signal abnormalities, including ischaemia, demyelination, and metabolic deficiencies.
  3. 3Confidently evaluate degenerative spine disease and identify high-acuity complications like cauda equina compression and spondylodiscitis.

"It's immersive. I know I'm going to learn something new every time — even four or five years into residency, going back through modules and still picking up new things."

Dr. Moosa Kamran, PGY-5 Radiology Resident, Southern Illinois University
