The knee is often called the easiest joint to interpret, but at the workstation, most junior radiologists overcall normal findings, lack confidence, and miss common pathologies. Structures like the posterolateral corner and menisci have nuanced anatomy that makes it easy to second-guess what is normal.

This course, featuring expert consultation from award-winning MSK radiologist Dr. Angela Atinga — Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto — covers the essentials of knee MRI. Through over 30 real-world cases covering meniscal tears, cruciate and collateral ligament injuries, bone marrow pathology, and synovial disease, you build the workstation confidence to stop overcalling and start reading with precision.

Who This Course Is For

R2–R4 residents and MSK fellows. Especially useful for anyone who overcalls meniscal tears, struggles with the posterolateral corner, or wants a structured approach to internal derangement before their next MSK rotation.

Pathologies include:

Get a taste for some of the pathologies covered in this course.

Meniscus

  • Including horizontal, vertical, and bucket handle tears, and meniscal root tears

Ligaments

  • Including ACL tear, PCL injury, and posterolateral corner injury

Bone & Cartilage

  • Including pivot shift contusions, osteochondral defects, and stress fractures

Synovial & Soft Tissue

  • Including Baker's cyst, PVNS, and Hoffa's fat pad impingement

What You'll Learn

  1. 1Accurately identify and classify meniscal tears by type and location, including subtle root tears.
  2. 2Evaluate the cruciate and collateral ligaments systematically, recognising partial tears and associated injury patterns.
  3. 3Interpret bone contusion patterns to infer the mechanism of injury and predict associated soft tissue damage.

"My second year was MSK. I was looking for something — and then NavRad went boom. The courses cover what you're actually going to see at the workstation. That's what makes it practical."

Nikahat Yasmine, Radiology Fellow (Year 3), University of Iowa
