The pancreas produces more radiological anxiety per centimetre than almost any other organ. Cystic lesions are everywhere. Most are benign. Some are premalignant. A few will kill the patient if you miss them. Distinguishing between them requires a systematic approach you probably won't develop waiting for cases at work.

This course gives you that approach. Twenty cases covering solid masses, cystic lesions, diffuse abnormalities, and rare pathologies — chosen to teach key principles without overwhelming you with repetition.

By the end, you won't just recognise PDAC or IPMN on a page. You'll know what to look for when a pancreatic cyst comes up on your worklist.

Who This Course Is For

R4–R5 residents. Body imaging fellows. Staff radiologists who want to be more confident with pancreas MRI. Any radiologist who wants to stop second-guessing pancreatic cyst characterisation.

Pathologies include:

Get a taste for some of the pathologies covered in this course.

Solid Masses

  • Including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumours, and autoimmune pancreatitis

Cystic Masses

  • Including IPMN, mucinous cystic neoplasm, and serous cystadenoma

Diffuse Pancreatic Abnormalities

  • Including acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, and groove pancreatitis

What You'll Learn

  1. 1Assess pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma for resectability by evaluating vascular involvement of the SMA, SMV, celiac axis, and portal vein.
  2. 2Characterise cystic pancreatic lesions using the Fukuoka guidelines for IPMN and distinguish pathologies like MCN from serous cystadenoma on MRI.
  3. 3Recognise the imaging features of autoimmune pancreatitis and differentiate it from PDAC — a distinction with major clinical consequences.

"I was fumbling around trying to read body MRI. Having a body radiologist walk you through a case step by step — it's probably the nicest comparison you can make to a slow reading room day where an attending runs you through a great case."

Dr. Ben Rothman, Radiology Resident, Dartmouth
